Target Audience This program is targeted to office-based primary care providers and other health professionals with updates in primary care medicine Learning Objectives Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to: - Review epidemiology and microbiology of skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI) - List common causative pathogens for various respiratory tract infections - Evaluate the severity of diarrhea and evaluate the need for treatment - List goals of an antimicrobial stewardship program and strategies for antimicrobial treatment - Utilize history and physical examination to distinguish weakness from non-specific symptoms - Describe the differential diagnosis and treatment options for migraine headaches - Utilize prevention and treatment strategies for cerebrovascular disorders - Recognize diseases that present with a complaint of dizziness - Describe the assessment and evidence-based treatment plans for heart failure (both reduced and preserved ejection fraction) in collaboration with cardiology - Utilize discussion and case-based learning to further incorporate treatment options for heart failure into practice - Evaluate hypertension in both younger and older adults, differentiate risks and goals of treatment, and recommend appropriate interventions - Utilize discussion and case-based learning to further incorporate treatment options for hypertension into practice - Review the risks and benefits of the treatment options for arthritis (non-selective NSAIDs, cox-2 inhibitors, DMARDs, narcotics and tramadol) - Utilize current evidence to design treatment strategies for osteoarthritis - Describe the differential diagnoses of inflammatory arthritis based on clinical presentation and laboratory workup - Diagnose and treat gout and pseudogout
